Portfolio Development (High School, College, or Professional Artists)
Marketing & Professional Advice for Illustrators
As a professional freelance editorial and children's book illustrator, oil painter, and Visual Arts Professor at the college level, I bring both real-world industry experience and years of teaching expertise to every lesson. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Fine Arts in Illustration and have taught students ranging from young children to college students and adult artists.
My teaching philosophy centers on helping each student discover their own artistic voice while building a strong foundation in observation, composition, color, technique, and creative problem-solving. Lessons are individualized, encouraging, and thoughtfully paced to meet each student's unique goals—whether that's developing technical skills, preparing a competitive portfolio, exploring a new medium, or simply enjoying the creative process.
Art has the power to inspire confidence, curiosity, and lifelong learning. My goal is to create a welcoming, supportive environment where students feel challenged, encouraged, and excited to make meaningful progress.
I would love to help you or your child take the next step in your artistic journey.

Professional Development for Educators on Art & Creative Learning
My background bridges both professional art practice and child development. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Fine Arts in Illustration, along with a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Development from Lesley University, where my graduate studies focused on the Reggio Emilia philosophy. For five years, I taught courses at Lesley University in Early Childhood Education, Early Intervention, Learning Environments for Infants and Toddlers, Field Experiences, and Child Psychology, helping prepare future educators to create responsive, child-centered learning environments.
As a professional freelance editorial and children's book illustrator and a Visual Arts Professor at Bunker Hill Community College, I believe that art is more than learning techniques—it is a way of investigating ideas, communicating experiences, and making sense of the world. My workshops emphasize process as much as product, encouraging participants to ask questions, take creative risks, collaborate with others, and discover their own artistic voice.
Whether I'm working with preschool children exploring sensory based artmaking, elementary and middle school students developing creative skills and confidence, high school artists preparing portfolios, college students refining their skills, illustrators trying to build their portfolio or enter the illustration market or educators seeking fresh approaches to arts integration, my goal is always the same: to create an engaging, inclusive learning experience that inspires curiosity, imagination, and a lifelong love of making.
Workshops can be tailored to a single classroom, grade level, faculty professional development day, community event, or multi-day residency. Together, we'll create an experience that aligns with your educational goals while celebrating the power of creativity and artistic expression.
